It is known as a cultural and culinary destination for its heritage houses and century-old churches, as well as, for its popular delicacies such as Pansit Malabon and Kakanin. The city has remained devoted in their efforts to promote cultural tourism based on their initiatives of advocating pride of place as well as giving importance to their town’s rich history and heritage. Officially the City of Malabon (Filipino: Lungsod ng Malabon), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 380,522 people. Located just north of the city of Manila, it is primarily a residential and industrial area, and is one of the most densely populated cities in the metropolis. It has a total land area of 15.96 square kilometers (6.16 sq mi). Malabon is part of the sub-region of Metro Manila informally called CAMANAVA, an area which derives its name from the first syllable of its component cities: Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela. Caloocan lies to the south and east, Navotas to the west, and Valenzuela to the north. Malabon also borders the town of Obando in the province of Bulacan to the northwest.

LUGLUGAN PANCIT MALABON
Considered as the only one of its kind culinary festivals in Metro Manila. Highlight of the event other than street dancing and marching band exhibiting is presentation of Giant Bilao of Pancit Malabon. The Pancit Malabon Festival, formerly called Luglugan, is an annual event in the city showcasing the renowned culinary treat. The festival also marks the end of the celebration of the feast of the Immaculate Concepcion. Pancit Malabon is a popular stir-fried noodle dish that has a yellow-orange color from annatto seeds, and is flavored with shrimp broth, fish sauce, and crab fat. It is usually garnished with pork, hard-boiled eggs, and local fresh seafood, like cooked shrimp. “Ang Pancit Malabon Festival ay bahagi ng mayamang kultura ng lungsod (The Pancit Malabon Festival is a part of the city’s rich culture),” Malabon Mayor Antolin Oreta said during the festival. The city mayor said that not only does the festival promote Pancit Malabon, but it also fosters a better sense of community among the city’s residents.
