Tucked away on the Eastern side of the Philippines is the palm tree covered paradise that is Siargao Island. Surfing is what has made this unique island shoot to popularity and this is mainly due to the world famous surf spot, Cloud 9 Siargao.
Throughout our years of travelling there are certain communities that resonate with us as a result of the culture and environment. Siargao is so much more than just a beautiful island getaway. This region of the Philippines has the laid back surf vibe that we are drawn to and a culture and atmosphere that made us fall instantly in love.

If you are planning a trip to Siargao, be sure to check out our full itinerary and things to do during your visit! One of our favourite things we recommend to anyone visiting this incredible island is to visit the infamous surf spot, Cloud 9 Siargao.
This big barrelling right hander is a crazy wave that attracts surfers from all over the world. It is now instantly recognizable due to the Cloud 9 boardwalk and 3-storey surf hut that has been built here. The wooden structure allows visitors to walk out to the edge of the shallow reef and watch the surfers from above.
It is one of the most epic spots on the island, and has that ultimate chilled out surf vibe that people come to Siargao to enjoy. Head out at sunset and enjoy the atmosphere as the surfers shred in the golden light.
Siargao is such an incredible island with loads of places to explore. Make sure you visit Magpupungko Rock Pools, Tayangban Cave Pool, Pacifico and go island hopping on your trip.

Entrance Fee
There is no entrance fee for the general Cloud 9 area, including the beach area, and no fee if you are going to surf. However, there is a small fee of 50 PHP ($1 USD) per person to walk along Siargao’s Cloud 9 boardwalk. Even though it’s a pain to have to pay to walk along the boardwalk and watch the surfers from the wooden hut, it is totally worth doing it a couple of times during your stay, especially at sunset.
